The Toyota Motor Corporation has announced they will begin production of their Tacoma pickups in San Antonio, Texas beginning in early 2010.  This is great news for South Texas as it means over 1,000 jobs for the area.  Now what is the connection to real estate?

      The impact on the area will be economic.  There will be folks moving to the area to work at the Toyota plant located on the southside of the city.  There will be additional jobs created by those suppliers to the Toyota plant.  This means more folks moving into San Antonio.  All of these folks need somewhere to live.

      Rentals on the south, southwest and southeast of town should see an increase in demand.  Also, medium priced homes will be in greater demand.  Other services businesses will be coming and also need employees who need housing.  The southside of San Antonio is not as well developed as the rest of town.  This means those who get in on the ground floor will see higher returns on their investments.

      For those who invest in real estate, the residential and commercial markets in San Antonio will see a boost from the Toyota decision.  Nos is the time to buy some properties in advance of higher prices when demand really goes up.
